Baba Marta (Grandmother Marta) is a mythical creature in Bulgarian folklore.
Baba Marta is considered the sister of the fierce winter months – sometimes smiling and well-intentioned, sometimes unpredictably fierce. Many customs and holidays dedicated to the coming spring are associated with Baba Marta and the month of March.
