Leslie Lanxinger grew up in Oregon and Georgia. She received her Masters of Fine Arts from the School of Visual arts in New York and her BFA from the Atlanta College of Art. Her drawings and sculptures have exhibited worldwide.
Using everyday materials and principles of gesture and theatrical display, her diverse sculptural media includes masks, costumes, paper mache, textiles, ceramics and installation. These all serve as references for her highly detailed, photorealistic charcoal drawings. The drawings portray everyday protagonists who, through their environment and emotional vulnerability, transform into mythological creatures. Her drawings combine the most terrifying and romantic elements of fantasy along with the most rigorous and visceral details of realism
