Astrid Vandendael is a young illustrator/ animator who lives and works in Ghent, Belgium.
The characters/ figures she draws are little weird and unaware persons who find themselves in a playful world surrounded by small elements of nature. In her work Astrid combines traditional drawing materials like pencil, ink and markers with digital techniques. She likes to cut and paste in a collage technique creating an unusual view at everyday life. Her illustrations are poetic with a wink, always searching for the line between melancholic and cheerful.
